Donations to Jaime Hilario Integrated School

I would like to acknowledge groups and individuals who donated to Jaime Hilario this December starting with the Martinez Family and the friends of Br. Kenneth. The Martinez Family donation was turned over during Br. Kenneth’s silver jubillee held 08 December. It has been earmarked as seed money for the construction of the 3rd school building which will commence towards the end of this year. Thank you also to the Atayde family as well as to the De La Salle University Student Council.

Farewell, Mr. Bringas

We received word today that Mr. Domiciano Bringas, long-time staff member of De La Salle University and Benefactor of the De La Salle Brothers, returned to the Lord on the morning of 11 January 2010. “Dom” Bringas joined De La Salle College – Taft in 1951 was secretary to several Presidents of De La Salle College and later, De La Salle University: starting from Brother Richard Duerr FSC, Brother H. Gabriel Connon FSC, Brother Andrew Gonzalez FSC, and Brother Rafael Donato FSC. He retired in October 1995 after 44 years of service. Mr. Bringas was presented the Letter of Benefaction on November 16, 2004.

DLSP Holds 2009 Corporation meeting

De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) held its 2009 Corporation meeting on 16 December at the Multipurpose Hall of Br. Andrew Gonzalez Hall. The 58 corporation members who attended the annual event that was presided by Mr. Ramon del Rosario, Jr., National Mission Council Co-Chair, ratified the acts and resolutions of the Corporate officers and NMC members and perused over the audited SY 08-09 financial statement. In his first year in office, Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC, NMC Co-Chair and DLSP President, presented a mid-year report to highlight the accomplishments of the network office in the first half of the school year. Ms. Caroline Labrador, Investment Management Unit Head, presented an investment report prior to Dr. Carmelita Quebengco AFSC's quantification of the services offered to the 17 DLSP-member schools. The meeting proper ended with the re-election of 5 NMC members who were given fresh 3-year terms: Dr. Allan Bernardo, Mr. Francis Estrada, Br. Ricky Laguda FSC, Sr. Cora Manalo DC and Mr. Joaquin Quintos IV.

After the meeting adjourned, the 2010 National CHIMES Awardees were honored over lunch.

Back-to-back Alumni Homecomings

The college alumni co-workers hosted a College-MMT Alumni Homecoming last December 30, 2009 at the Sentrum. The alumni were welcomed and inspired by Dr. Corazon Abansi, Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research. She shared the importance of coming together and the achievements of the Colleges. She also mentioned that homecoming creates new relationships among alumni such as business partners, “magbalae”, etc. The gathering was filled with games and presentations from De La Salle Voices, Salindayaw and Integrated School Acoustic Band (College alumni faculty and staff singing group). An election of officers for the College-MMT Alumni Council followed.

NAHEI Cultural Contest

Showcasing the talents of their students, at least ten schools of Batangas Province participated on Saturday in the cultural competitions sponsored by the National Higher Educational Institution (NAHEI) hosted by Lyceum University Batangas. Categories of the competition included, Vocal Solo, Duet Singing, Creative Dance and the Ginoo/BB. Pamantasan.

DLSZ Hosts KILALANIN Presidential Forum

De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) hosted the KILALANIN Presidential Forum on 9 January 2010 at the Sylvia P. Lina Theater. The event was organized by DLSZ, GMA News and Public Affairs, Friends in Art (FIAT), Inc., Ayala Alabang Village Association, St. James Parish Council, and Barangay Ayala Alabang. Members of the school community and other guests were able to dialogue and interact with the following presidential candidates: Sen. Benigno Aquino III, Sen. Richard Gordon, Sec. Gilbert Teodoro, and Sen. Manuel Villar.
