An international conference that focuses on learner-centered education will be hosted by De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) this coming February 19 to 20, 2008. The convention, the 2nd International Conference on Learner-Centered Education (ICLCE), is a biennial undertaking of the International Society of Educators for Active Learning (iSEAL).
The upcoming ICLCE confab, with the theme “Transforming Teaching for Active Learning,” will be held at the CSB Hotel on Arellano Avenue corner Estrada St., Manila. The event’s featured keynote speaker is Dr. David Watkins of the University of Hong Kong, who will give a talk on “Learning-Centered Teaching: An Asian Perspective.”
iSEAL, one of the pioneering organizations promoting learner-centered education in various levels of the educational system, hopes to actively participate in diverse learner-centered developments established by institutions in various countries. It also aims to provide its members with current information and directions in learner-centered education. Sharing of resources, collaboration, and continuous exchange of ideas and best practices are some of the activities that the society hopes to encourage in its members and to include in its programs and plans.
For information on the conference fee, which covers the registration in the two-day convention, a kit, hand-outs, a certificate of participation, lunches and snacks, interested participants may visit the iSEAL website at http://www.iseal-intl.org . You may also contact the iSEAL Secretariat at saldivarce@dls-csb.edu.ph or 658-4165 to 70.
